Re: New Tricks 8
no new tricks, I'm just getting better at some older ones. first chetty thomas in like 5 months, 3 nollie lasers in a row, two 360 flip underflips in a row, a ton of nollie back foot impossibles, and I found an easier and much more consistent way to switch frontside flip. ![]()

Re: New Tricks 8
So I went to the park earlier to run through the trails to get some exercise. After a big long lap through the woods and around the woods I found myself back at the park where a couple of my friends who I haven't seen in a long time were skating. So I borrowed a board and skated a little bit.
I'm still pretty rusty on all of my normal tricks but I did manage to learn two new ones!!
The first trick I learned, really RE-learned, was a varial heelflip. I used to have tons of trouble with these and I would only land one on occasion. Even though I haven't tried one in months I decided to give it a try and I landed it first try and it was the cleanest one I've ever done. It was pretty freakin' awesome!
The next trick I learned was a really weird and awkward trick. It was a crail grab body varial... or an ollie body varial late switch nose grab. It's REALLY REALLY weird but I landed it a few times.
I need to just cough up the cash and buy a board. I miss being able to skate frequently.

Re: New Tricks 8
Haven't had a new trick in quite some time, but I've had a good time relearning old tricks. Although it's been forever since I've skated for longer than 45 minutes, I seem to be able to do everything I used to be able to do, just not quite as good. I just have to warm up each time I skate. Went out two days ago and got a 360 hospital flip just messing around. I didn't expect to land it at all, haha. I've got the best kickflips I've ever had now, too, for some strange reason. I wish I had people to skate with ![]()

Nollie hospital flip. Wasn't really expecting it, but I got it. Also starting to get back some real good nollie bs big spins and came close to what would have been the cleanest nollie bs gazelle I've ever done.

Re: New Tricks 8
Not totally sure what this was or how the hell I did it, but it happened as I was practicing sigma flips (I got two of those by the way!) Anyway, I did one that was a varial half flip late fs anti alpha double flip? It was as crazy as it sounds. It's hard to explain.

Re: New Tricks 8
An alpha flip is a big spin hospital flip and a sigma flip is a varial half flip late anti casper flip. So I did varial half flip, caught it in anti casper, then spun my body fs 180 while under flipping 1 1/2 rotation and kicking the board around fs 360 with both feet. By far the craziest trick I have ever done.

Re: New Tricks 8
I've thought of trying that trick before! Unfortunately, I still can't get sigma flips. I'm sooooo close though. If I actually had a board and was skating regularly then I could probably get it.
So did you land that trick and if you did, do you think you could do it again on purpose?

Re: New Tricks 8
I did, and maybe. I tried it a couple more times but could only get sigma flip fs body varial, I guess? It was just like a sigma flip, but as I did the anti casper flip I just spun my body at the same time. The hardest part to recreate would be the 1 1/2 underflip. What I found was most important for sigmas is to not over think it or try too hard. I just practiced varial half to anti casper a whole bunch gradually catching it higher each time, and it just came together naturally. It feels super slow so I always wanted to flip it super fast, but it just doesn't work that way (for me anyway).

Re: New Tricks 8
Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm super close to regular sigma flips but I've been thinking that maybe doing a FS body varial with it would be easier to accomplish than the regular version even though I've never tried it. The 1.5 underflip with it is just ridiculous though.

Forgot to say that when I skated this past Saturday, I actually landed (with one foot) an Inward Double Heelflip. That woulda been fairly nasty.

Re: New Tricks 8
That woulda been fairly awesome had you landed it both feet.
I was working on getting my varial heelflips consistent today. I did about five of them in about 20 minutes so they're getting better.

I've come close to inward double heels as well, never really tried them that hard though. Maybe when I do my inward heel trick tip I'll do some of the variations and get one, that way I have an excuse to try them more, haha

I've changed my status for the first time in a while. I realized the "Skating Twice a Week Now" wasn't really accurate anymore. We've had so many blizzards this winter up here (NY) and it's really unusual. I'm actually home from work right now, the snow shut down our office. Our office was closed about 2 weeks ago too!

Not really a new trick, but it can lead to new tricks:
Anyone here ever play with skate dice? Good stuff. Forces you to try random ass tricks, ranging from a simple ollie to something like, Switch F/S Big Spin Hardflip. Just played for the first time with some buds yesterday, first to land 10 tricks wins.
I wanna add a new dice though, with late flips and underflip and body varials. Haha

Was trying a new Rodney-style trick yesterday. B/S Pivot to Fakie Big Spin. Roll regular and do a B/S powerslide pivot, then before you touch down with the two wheels, do a Fakie Big Spin. Landed once with one foot, landed both feet another time but was 90 degrees short.

You should try one of my favorite mess around tricks, a bs 180 pivot (so like a back 3 that's pivoted 180) but keep the manny and do a shove it then land in a little nose wheelie and pivot that bs. It's a really fun trick and feel pretty good.

Re: New Tricks 8
I've done sorta like that, except just a B/S 180 Pivot to Fakie Wheelie to Fakie B/S Pivot. Like a delayed 360 that you hold a wheelie in the middle of.
